Spirituality 101 Report: Forgiveness
Now that you have eliminated toxic people and defined healthy boundaries with those in your life, it is time to create a safe space for those that really matter. A circle of love, happiness, and trust gives way to wonderment, but, as in life, we cannot always get along with everyone all the time. Sometimes the people that love us the most, will hurt us. So in this safe space, one must learn forgiveness. As Gary Chapman writes in his book, The 5 Love Languages: The Secret To Love That Lasts, “Forgiveness is not a feeling; it is a commitment.” I must emphasize that in order to completely forgive those in our life, we must make sure we are not being taken for granted or being taken advantage of. Living in the moment, we need to let others know when they upset us in that moment. Once it is addressed and forgiveness has been given, we are not meant to take it back. The slight is left forgotten and the road is clear to manifest prosperity, truth, and happiness.
Forgiveness is also demanded by God. Did you know that if you hold on to resentment, anger, and bitterness, you can prevent yourself from entering the gates of Heaven? It is true. Remember that the same water cannot bring forth both sweet and bitter water. The bitterness can take life, thus preventing blessings and prosperity. In God’s world, we are called to love one another. Solid real friendships and relationships take time, patience and forgiveness. Forgiveness not only frees the person that has hurt you, but it also frees yourself. Forgiveness is the key that unlocks the doors to God’s love. If we cannot forgive others, how can God forgive us when we slight Him? We are not perfect, so it is inevitable that eventually we would displease our Father. Remember in God’s world, we are only left to the standard we hold with others. If we are manifesting edifying relationships, it is easy to forgive those in our life. Choose wisely and give freely, it is the way to enlightenment.
